Part-time Editorial/Research Assistant, Fall 2017


The Center on Global Interests (CGI) is seeking one part-time Editorial/Research Assistant to assist with the publication of The Daily Russia Brief, as well as with the organization’s general research and translation needs. The position is part-time (20-30 hours per week). The hourly rate will be between $15.75 and $19.75/hour, dependent on the candidate’s education and experience-level.

Opportunities for advancement, including full-time employment, may be available for the qualified applicant. Applicants must be able to begin training no later than Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

  • Compiling The Daily Russia Brief, a curated digest of news and analysis from around Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia
  • Assisting with CGI’s communications, including social media and web content
  • Providing administrative and logistical support, including travel and event planning
  • Updating and maintaining databases with individual and organizational contacts
  • Completing research (in Russian and English) on developments related to U.S.-Russia relations, Russian politics, and other topics pursuant to CGI’s research projects
  • Translating documents from Russian to English and English to Russian


  • Student enrolled in a relevant graduate or undergraduate degree program, or a recent graduate
  • Demonstrated interest in Russia and the former Soviet Union
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
  • Proficiency in Russian is strictly required
  • Fluency in oral and written Russian required and demonstrated experience in translation of complex documents from English to Russian is strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills; website development and maintenance experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and able to efficiently handle multiple tasks
